File Transfer Surveillance
It only takes one law suit to damage a reputation
that you have spent years building. An ounce of prevention
is worth a pound of cure. File transfer comes in
many different forms. FTP (File Transfer Protocol),
Peer to Peer Applications (such as Kazaa, Morpheus,
or Gnucleus) are just a couple that are the most
common.
Employees might be using those kind of file transfer
programs at home and may think there is no harm in
using it at work. This could not be further from
the truth. If they use these kind of file transfer
programs on your company network to download illegal
music downloads, pirated software programs and much
more, YOU may be held responsible for this. There
have been several law suits about this and the RIAA
is not backing down.
Plus, peer to peer
applications have a tendency to inject “spyware” on
the computer it is being used on, and it is very
possible
that it
may spread across your entire network.
